Travel to Israel (inbound):
Any person wishing to travel to Israel will have to successfully apply to the Exemptions Committee prior to their journey. This includes Foreign and Israeli nationals.
Legitimate reasons to be considered by the Exemption Committee: attending the funeral of an immediate relative, accompanying a body to Israel for burial, urgent medical treatment including women in their final trimester of pregnancy, the need to attend an immediate relative in distress, and other compassionate reasons, and to take part in legal proceedings.
Travel from Israel (outbound):
Those allowed to depart from Israel:
- Foreign nationals, not including permanent residents of Israel. This means that foreign workers with a B-1 work visa and their dependents holding B-2 visas will be allowed departure from Israel.
- Israeli nationals residing abroad. Proof of permanent residence abroad will be required to be presented to the Exemptions Committee.
- Any person that has successfully applied to the Exemptions Committee.
- Professional sportspeople will be allowed to travel overseas to take part in official international tournaments.
During the flight suspension extended period:
Inbound Flights: All commercial flights are barred from entering Israeli airspace or landing at Ben Gurion Airport, except for emergency flights, cargo planes, and flights that go through Israeli air space without landing.
Outbound Flights: All departing commercial flights are also canceled except for Israeli private planes with up to 9 passengers capacity.
Land Borders: The operation of border crossing from Jordan and Egypt is also suspended.
Exceptions Committee: A special committee was set up to examine exemption requests for those who need to arrive in Israel on humanitarian reasons during the flight suspension period, without giving specific criteria.
