Modification to Work Permit Process

Today, the Israeli government eliminated the requirement of obtaining a “necessity confirmation” from the relevant government Ministry in support of any Work Permit application.

Since March 29, 2020, due to COVID-19, an approval-in-principal and support for any work permit application had to be provided by the government office relevant to the field of business of the company.

The relevant Ministry evaluated the necessity of the proposed work in Israel and issued its recommendation accordingly to the Ministry of Health and later to the Ministry of Interior.

Note that work permit applications submitted for experts arriving from red countries for up to 7 days for repairs (with no isolation requirement), are not affected by this change.

An official government announcement will be made shortly. The elimination of this bureaucratic requirement is evidence the Israeli government recognizes the need for and contribution of the foreign experts to the economy of Israel, and as such, would like to limit barriers to an efficient work permit process.
