US Visa Processing Updates


In an effort to create a post COVID-19 visa processing system, USCIS and the Dept. of State have announced the reinstitution of certain services. 

In the United States

  • USCIS Offices Resume In-Person Services  Beginning June 4,2020, United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) field offices and asylum office will resume non-emergency face-to-face services to the public.Application Support Centers (ASC) will resume services later, and notice of the new interview date will be sent to applicants and petitioners.  
  • Premium Processing to Resume in Stages  USCIS announced that it will resume premium processing for employment based non-immigrant and immigrant petitions in phases over the next month. (Please click here). With payment ofthe premium processing fee ($1410) USCIS will review the pending petitionwithin 15 days of receipt of filing the premium processing request.

  • Reinstatement of Interview Waiver Process The US Embassy Jerusalem and the Branch Office Tel Aviv are now accepting non-immigrant visa applications that qualify for interview waivers. Interview Waiver (IW) cases include first-time applicants under age 14 or 80 or older,and some applicants applying for renewals.  The application process is completed by mail.   • Limited “expedite”appointments available for B Visa Interviews. The US Embassy Jerusalem and Branch Office Tel Aviv will accept a request to schedule a B visa interview for the following reasons only:· Life-threatening medical emergencies that require treatment at a U.S. medical facility.· Visits to gravely ill/dying relatives in the United States or the death of an immediate relative.· Students and Exchange Visitors (F, M, and J visas) who could not otherwise travel to the United States in time for enrollment and class/program attendance.· Persons with approved employment-based visa petitions (H, L, P and O visas) who cannot otherwise arrive for their work start dates.· Unexpected urgent business purposes, including unexpected travel of significant cultural,political, journalistic or economic importance. (for further instruction please click here

  • Routine Services Remain Unavailable All visa interview appointments that were scheduled up until June 30, 2020 for the US Embassy in Jerusalem or the Branch Office in Tel Aviv have been cancelled. Applicants are requested to reschedule anew appointment individually for a later date.
